2. Three-section End Plate has six cable entry ports, captive hardware, strength member tie-off, isolated grounds and requires no field drilling.
3. Durable glass-filled high-density thermoplastic shells. Two diameters, 6.0", 8.5". Built-in shell stabilizers and air valve.
4. Field-proven, permanent neoprene gasket sealing system. No re-entry kits needed. No flame required to break the seal or to install.
5. LOCK-TAPE Sealing System ensures a tightly, permanently sealed End Plate assembly and maximum shear strength to resist cable pull out.
Designed to set the standard for the next generation of closures, the COYOTE Closure is a whole new breed of fiber optic closure.
The COYOTE Closure is the culmination of months of design work, after talking with people in the communications industries about what they needed in a new closure design. Craft-friendly, affordable, reliable, durable and tested in accordance with Bellcore Testing Requirement TA-NWT-000771, the COYOTE Closure has proven well worth the effort. This is the closure that will ensure long-term reliability and quality of the signal -- voice, video and data. Its compact size disguises its storage capacity. At just 22" long, 6.0" and 8.5" in diameter, it can store up to 288 or 576 fiber splices respectively, using mass fusion splicing. Even the packaging is different. Every component, for sealed or free-breathing installations, comes in one carton, packaged to order to meet your specifications.
The COYOTE Closure is a whole new breed, backed by the company that has offered dependable closures and related products for years - Preformed Line Products.
Design Features
Corrosion-resistant, re-enterable shells built to save time and money. Made of injection-molded high-density thermoplastic, the shells are built to last in any environment. Closing and re-entry are simple; closing hardware is captive so there are no loose parts to keep track of, and the torquing sequence is molded into the shell for easy reference. The neoprene gasket, proven effective in PLP's other closures, provides an airtight, waterproof seal and no re-entry kits are needed so waste is at a minimum. End Plate features premolded cable entry ports. For ease of ordering and ease of use, the End Plates are one size, 5-1/2" (13.97 cm) in diameter. There is a blank End Plate for butt splice applications, and a three-section End Plate that can be easily configured in the field for butt and in-line installations. The three-section End Plate has six premolded cable entry ports which means no additional cost for special drilling tools. Four ports accept cable diameters up to 7/8" (2.22 cm) in diameter and two up to 3/4" (1.90 cm). LOCK-TAPE Sealant, field-proven and factory-applied to the inside surfaces and around the ports of the three-section End Plate, ensures a tightly sealed, permanent and easy assembly without the use of sealing washers or grommets. With plugs for any unused cable entry ports, grounding hardware for individualized cable shield isolation/strength member tie-off, and captive hardware, the three-section End Plate is packed with time and money-saving features. Fiber management that is versatile and built for high-capacity fiber storage.
One of the original demands in the COYOTE Closure design was that it be craft-friendly, and offer a high-capacity system for unitube, loose buffer tube, ribbon cable, and fire-retardant cable for single, mass fusion and mechanical splicing. The designers succeeded and went beyond expectations. The COYOTE Closure will easily accommodate dielectric and shielded cables. The storage compartment has ample space to meet the closure's splicing capacity for both unitube and buffer tube applications, and at a bending radius that ensures long-term optical performance.
Two types of splice trays are available, one for single fiber splices and one for mass fiber splices. Splice trays, for mass or single fusion and mechanical splicing, are layered above the transition/storage compartment and are easily slipped into place on two studs and secured with a hold down strap. These injection-molded trays have hinged, clear plastic covers for maximum fiber protection that still allows for visible inspection of the fibers. A series of tabs along the tray perimeter are easily removed to simplify routing of the fiber. When replaced, they retain the fiber.
